Installing & Using Gallery

“Wow, Gallery is the BEST script for making a gallery online, not only is it safe, you have the option to sell your work in the form of print and E-cards…it’s like Deviantart.com!

On my search for the best of the best in Photo Galleries, I stumbled upon (not the website) a nifty little gallery script in Fantastico called…Gallery! Skimming through it, I really liked what it had to offer and felt it would appeal to both a professional and personal website.

Installing…

In your Cpanel locate Fantastico and click on it. Once inside, scroll down to the category ‘Image Galleries’, Gallery is the last one to choose from. Clicking on it will take you to the overview page where you are able to install, upgrade, and delete gallery accounts. Click on new installation and fill out the forms. That’s all! Now just follow what the installation instructions and you’re ready to load up your new gallery!

Using…

Inside the admin panel, it seems like there is a lot to cover and I’m sure if you are old or new to this, it can seem like a lot. Here, I will break down the main terms you will need to know in order to run a smooth and functional Gallery.

Under Gallery:

Captcha – This is what I love about this gallery application….the security! That’s what a captcha does. When you’ve filled out the form, have you ever had to write out the numbers/letters that would appear distorted in an image, well that is captcha. Its to make sure you are human and not a spam robot. Unfortunately if you do not have captcha enabled, you are most likely to get tons of spam mail. So take it as a blessing to have this feature with this application.

General – Here is where you can edit all general functions for the gallery.

Plug-ins – here you are able to view all activated, disabled, and not installed yet plugins. This is an easy way to get new features for this application. Also be sure to check out to see what you can install that has yet to be, like themes!

Users – you are able to view all the users that register to your gallery, also you can create or delete users if you need to.
